headphone buttons not working iphone 5s os10.1.1

hi

I've searched for an answer, and found a lot of specific problems regarding apple in-ear headphone buttons not working due to fluff in the jack port etc. But can anyone confirm for me that the volume and play/pause buttons no longer work on an iphone5s running 10.1.1? or can I assume my set are damaged.

I've tried the steps you suggested and the remote buttons still don't work, so it seems like I'll need to buy replacements.

Thanks for replying and that additional info, it really helps! It sounds like you need the headphone jack cleaned out, since those steps didn't help. The good news is you can contact any local Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider or AppleCare support to get this fixed and your iPhone working properly again!
