How do I tell if my Apple Pencil is charged?

I just received my new iPad Pro today with keyboard and pencil. Cannot determine if my pencil is charged. Have paired the device and that is all.

Is there a procedure to follow?

To see how much charge your Apple Pencil has left, check the Widgets view in Notifications on your iPad Pro.

Sorry but there is no widgets label In Notifications on my iPad Pro. I have the latest version of IOS.

Carolyn I may have misunderstood your reply. I added the battery widget to the Notification page and that widget shows my iPad and my Pencil charged to 100 %. Thank you.
