Why won't my iPad2 turn on?

My iPad2 was fine. I wanted to sync it with iTunes and connected it to my PC and then turned my iPad on. Black! I couldn't get it to come on. I tried to see if it would respond in any way and took a photo. It clicked as it does when I take a screen shot and the photo was white. It stayed on the white screen for about 5 seconds and then returned to the black screen again. I can't shut the iPad down and can't turn it on. I've tried everything that I know but nothing works. Please help me.
