dns query

Hi,


I've got a (maybe simple) question regarding dns settings.

I've changed mine to use Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

However, when I use nslookup with a domain, the dns server it returns is my ISP server (Virgin Media at 194.168.4.100)

Why is this? Shouldn't it return 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4?


I've flushed the dns. My hosts file has nothing of significance in it. Same result.

perhaps you should obscure the MAC addresses.

Oh, the DNS number was being overwritten by your router [ I'd assume ]. I thought that there was some way of getting your web address from your router, but supplying the DNS address yourself. It could be I'm remembering this from my windows days. Seems odd that mac os is allowing you to supply the DNS address then ignoring it.
