any USB C - firewire 800 adaptor in the pipeline?

I plan to update my Macbook Pro. My digital camera is using firewire 800 for tethered shooting. Is their any USB-C - firewire 800 adaptor available.

I can state that the Thunderbolt 3 ->Thunderbolt 2 -> Firewire 800 daisy-chaining solution for tethering to a camera does not work. Camera used was the Phase XF system with a IQ3 back. You will need a Thunderbolt dock (which provides its own power) in between. Not an elegant solution, and not good for on location-work.

The daisy-chaining does work for FW hard drives that has its own power though.

Apple seriously needs to create a Thunderbolt 3 -> Firewire 800 adapter considering they pushed FW in the first place, and are now pushing Thunderbolt 3/USB-C so strongly.

Hi,

As stated, so far there is no Thunderbolt 3/USB-C to FireWire 800 adapter (and I question if there ever will be given its age and limited use outside the Mac community). Also note that there is no such thing as a working USB to FW adapter as they are two completely different protocols.

The following adapters should work for you:

Thunderbolt 3/USB-C to Thunderbolt/Thunderbolt 2 (Note that this is a special price available until Dec 31, 2016): http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMEL2AM/A/thunderbolt-3-usb-c-to-thunderbolt-2 -adapter

Then go from Thunderbolt/Thunderbolt 2 adapter to FireWire 800 with this adapter: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD464LL/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapte r
