iPad and iPhone ask for airplay passcode even though all security is off

This started a few days ago. It doesn't seem to be linked to an update but I might just not have noticed it.

Basically, all the security options are off in my AppleTV (4th Gen, 32Gb) but both my iPad (Pro 12.9", 128Gb with LTE) and iPhone (7 Plus) now require a passcode to connect to my Apple TV. The code displays on screen and I haven't had situations where the code was rejected but since all the options are off and I shouldn't be asked for it, I don't understand why I am required to input it and it is bugging me.

So far I have;

  • Factory reset my AppleTV
  • Restarted AppleTV and iDevices multiple times
  • Restarted my network (router and repeaters)

I would rather not have to factory reset my iDevices to see if it fixes the issue but I will if that's a last resort.

Any clue as to what may be causing this?

Thanks!

Well, It seems that the issue is linked to bluetooth somehow... But I have no idea how to solve it for good.

If I turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both my iOS devices, wait a few seconds. And then start Wi-Fi ONLY, everything is fine and I can connect on and off my Apple TV without prompts at will.

Now this is where things get very weird. If I lock both device and then open one (power button, not unlocking the device) or both devices, I can still access AirPlay mirroring without issue.

While keeping both devices locked, if I enable bluetooth on one or both devices, they still work and connect without issue as long as they are on the lock screen. If I have bluetooth enabled, even on just one device, and I leave the lock screen, even if it is on the device with bluetooth deactivated, then I start getting a passcode prompt and keep getting the prompt as long as I don't start over with bluetooth and Wi-Fi off.

Any clue where the issue can come from? I have another Apple TV (3rd Gen) and I have no issue whatsoever with that device!
