So you mean to tell me that the person who scammed me works for Apple? Because they are using a legitimate Apple number.
It is common practice for phishing scams to spoof text message short codes, telephone numbers, URLs, email addresses - anything that can be spoofed or forged will be to make you believe they are who they want you to think they are so you will respond as they wish you to.
Nobody could possible remove your device from your iCloud account's list of tracked devices without knowing your AppleID and login password. That very fact tells you your account was compromised, plain and simple.
And despite what you wish to have be true, the reality is Apple does not find nor report finding lost or stolen property. Liability and privacy laws and legal issues make that a legal minefiled that no reasonable company will ever become involved in what happens to your private property. Apple advises you to report it to your carrier and the police, but they themselves do not take, record, monitor nor respond to any information at all about the whereabouts of lost or stolen property.
Anyone ever claiming to have found your lost or stolen device is most certainly not Apple.
