Siri not working correctly on 2016 MacBook Pro (Touchbar)

Hello,

I recently received my shiny new 15 inch 2016 MBP w/ Touchbar and have been putting it through its paces. In the course of my testing of the new Touchbar, I noticed a weird behavior with Siri.

In most cases when I use Siri and ask a question, things work as you would expect them too. Golden. However, whenever I ask a question regarding the weather and stocks (so far), the Siri graphic waveform locks up on the screen (though the voice still speaks the results). The graphic then is not able to be removed by clicking the "x". I am not able to use Siri again until at least 45+ seconds has passed and the graphic finally goes away. During this time, the beach ball appears when hovering over the graphic

Has anyone else had this type of behavior? I've tried using it on a different network as well with same results (thinking perhaps a network block was causing it).

Thanks!

Hello Rob Loomis,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems you are having issues with Siri on your MacBook Pro, but only when trying to check weather or stocks. You can figure out if unexpected behavior is related to a user file or setting by trying to reproduce the issue from another user account. This process includes creating a new user account, logging in to it, and testing for the issue.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

To help resolve this issue, use safe mode to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Log into your user account while in safe mode and then restart normally and test the issue again.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode

Cheers!

Hi Starr,

I've created a new user and was able to see that Siri works normal. I also started up in Safe mode on main user (the one that isn't working) and Siri still is having issues. I've quit all applications (Dropbox, Droplr, One Day) that were running and attempted SIRI again with the same negative results.

Now that we have narrowed it down to this user, is there a next step to determine what might be causing it? I have only installed a couple applications from the App Store and all are Sierra ready, so not sure.

Thanks for the help so far!
