How do you turn off pairing code?

Is there anyway to turn off the pairing code? So I don't have to re-enter it every single time I reconnect my keyboard?

It use to work fine with the old magic keyboard, it would just automatically reconnect.

The new keyboards are nice because they have that on/off switch and I don't have to constantly take the batteries in and out.

But now every time I reconnect it to my iMac, I have to sit around and wait for this pairing code to appear (which is always a desperate rush because it doesn't stay on the screen very long) and every time I reconnect to my ipad I have to tell it to forget the keyboard before I can reconnect the keyboard, which makes no sense at all.

I'm sure there's a logical way of doing this, I'm just too big of an idiot to figure it out.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Well, I am sorry, but you lost me: I have a wireless Apple keyboard (not the new magic model) and I have never heard of having to enter any code during the pairing process. I also could not find any mention in any Apple document/article/manual regarding having to enter a code. Here is a link to the manual:

https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1738/en_US/magic-keyboard-userguid e.pdf

And this is from the menu bar > Help > "magic keyboard:

Hopefully someone will chime in; if you cannot get an answer here, I'd suggest contacting Apple and/or a visit to your nearest Genius Bar. It would help here (and there if you go) to have a screenshot of the message requiring you to enter a code.

If you take the batteries out, you will need to re-pair. If you change the batteries, you usually will need to re-pair.

If you use the keyboard with more than one device, you usually need to re-pair as it can only work with one device.

Why are you taking out the batteries?

And, I'm not sure what you are referring to with "pairing code"? You can simply use the 'connect" option in the menu bar > Bluetooth.

I use rechargeable batteries and replace them with plenty of charge left so it is a seamless process.

I use to have the old magic keyboard, which had no on/off switch, so whenever I put it in my bag to take with me and use with my ipad, I would have to take the batteries out. That part was annoying, but it would automatically connect to my ipad and imac without all the hassle.

I bought one of the new magic keyboards this year and in general it is much better, but it is more of a hassle to connect to each device.

I dont know if "pairing code" if the official Apple term for it, but every time I connect it to my imac, I have to wait for it to detect the keyboard and then it shows the six or seven digit code that you have to hurry up and type on the keyboard before it disappears from the screen.

Every time I conect to my ipad, it shows up on the bluetooth list like it remembers it, but it will never connect unless I tell it to forget the keyboard, it asks me if I'm sure I really want to do that, I click Yes, then it immediately shows up again and it will finally connect.
