iCloud Drive In finder has stuck uploading icon
my specs: MacBook Pro 11,4
macOS Sierra 10.12.1 build 16B2657
Why is this happening. Ive been looking all over internet for a fix for this problem! There are no files waiting to be uploaded in any of those folders (I've checked, there would be a cloud icon next to them). And it seems like according to posts over the internet that any people have this issue.
Steps I've taken to try and resolve the issue:
Moving folders out of iCloud Drive and then back in - Didn't work
Enabling desktop and documents sync and then disabling it - Didn't work
Disabling individual apps that sync with iCloud Drive and re-enabling them - Didn't Work
Turning on optimize Mac storage and then disabling it again - Didn't Work
Disabling iCloud Drive and re-enabling it after restart MacBook - Didn't Work
The last thing I've tried is this:
Signing out of iCloud completely and signing back in after restart MacBook - Didn't work
Initially it looked like it worked. It finished downloading everything again and the icon was gone. When I went back into finder the icon was back.
The reason why this disturbs me is because I was aware of the issue like a week or two ago and it didn't really bother me at first because I thought it was just a cosmetic issue but when I went into activity monitor this week, there is a process called "bird" which apparently refers to iCloud Drive so some suggested that this problem could be fixed by terminating it and then the stuck icon would be gone. Others tried and they said the process just comes back and there "stuck" icon was still there.
The "bird" process for me was writing alot of Gb to my SSD while the computer was idle (I think it was like 5gb+) and there was nothing needed to be downloaded OR uploaded.
When I did go to sign out of iCloud, it did warn me that stuff was being uploaded or downloaded(can't remember which one) from iCloud and that the process would be stopped if I signed out.
Right now the bird process isn't climbing but the icon is still in finder next to iCloud Drive and I want it gone.
thanks for all help
