In principle nothing is done with the images in the camera roll. They should stay on the device until you choose to copy them off it and/or erase them. You can either do this using Windows Explorer or some form of picture import wizard.

There is a second set of photos that may be optionally synced from a folder on your computer. Change what is stored in that folder and that changes what is synced to the device.

Thanks , You are right, but anyway a lot of pictures had disappeared in the directory "camera roll" so like like to learn how can i prevent this in the future !

I think every pictures which was not older than 1 month was missing after sync. !

Maybe its important, that "My Photostream" was active during sync ??

Is there any manual where ican read about the detailed function of iPad or iTunes which could cause the pictures disappearing ?

Thanks in advance !

P.S.: I remember the same issue happened 2 years ago, but can't tell detailed circumstances now.
