How do I block spam Calendar Events?

In the past two days, I've wakened to a notification on my calendar (iPhone SE) in the all day events. It's spam - some offer I can accept or decline. I can't find a way to block who/whatever is putting these additions to the calendar. Does anyone know how these events are being added and how I can permanently block them?

iPhone SE, iOS 10.1.1

It isn't under "settings" in iCloud Calendar, it's under "Preferences".

Click that little gear in the lower left corner, then "Preferences", then "Advanced".

Then under "Invitations", there are two choices: receive them as in-app notifications,

and send the to your default email account.

I'm not sure whether this has any effect yet, was I just found it...and, I'm not confident, really,

because, how did these people I've never dealt with get my iCloud address in the first place?
