While reorganizing photos using different libraries original files were deleted. Is there a batch way to restore the originals from trash rather than one at a time in the application through the "find original" function?

Have you tried to select all originals in the Trash and move them back to a folder outside the Trash?
If you use "Find original" for one photo, Photos will usually reconnect all originals in the same folder, but not, if they are in the Trash.
Thanks Léonie, this seems to work. Do you notice that Photos has to be quit and restarted before seeing the results of so called "reconnection". Thanks again,

this sounds like you are using a referenced library (you have unchecked the Photos preference to copy imported items to the Photos library) - referenced libraries are not recommended - you may want to read this article and reconsider your decision
