Can't access Hotmail on IPhone

It appears that I have the same problem as many others. One of our family's 4 Hotmail accounts is not working on the IPhone mail app and on my home computer's outlook app. However, this specific Hotmail account works in Safari and on my home computer via www.hotmail.com. It also works on the "outlook app". The other 3 Hotmail accounts are working great.

I did notice that Microsoft pushed out a new feature on the troubled account: "focused or other inbox". I'm fairly certain it was not there before last Thursday. Please help us. We are drowning without our info.

This problem exists for me too, as of late on Nov 20th, across iPhone and MBP (El Capitan). My account has the "focused" and "other" feature (that I've disabled). I've been able to access email via the web (from hotmail.com and outlook.com) and have also installed the Outlook app (ugh!) on the iPhone and that works. There appears to be some sort of settings issue that prevents access to email from the standard mail applications on both iPhone and OS X.
