Hi,

You list an iPhone 5 using iOS 7.0.6

You talk about Sierra but have posted in the El Capitan Community.

The iMessages account on an iPhone and a Mac will sync - not iMessages forwarding - if you have the same Apple ID signed in the Messages app.

However if you have Yosemite or above and iOS 8 and above you get the option to do Text Forwarding. This sends the SMS items your iPhone receives via WiFi to the Mac once you have paired them.

In addition to this and depending on the specs of your computer and iPhone and the OS versions they are running you may also be able to do Continuity and Handoff.

I am not sure about this bit from darren.s

Messages for Mac: Set up iMessage

Stop using iMessage

If you don’t want to see messages from iMessage on your Mac, you can turn off iMessage using iCloud preferences.

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click iCloud, then click the Options button next to iCloud Drive.
  2. Deselect Messages in the list of apps, then click Done.

IT is new to Sierra judging by the Publishing date at the bottom of the article.

The System Preferences looks like documents are being stored.

However my iCloud Drive lists nothing about Messages

I have always pointed out that System Preferences > iCloud itself lists nothing in the normal view about iTunes, Messages or iMessages, FaceTime, The App Store, Games Center, iBooks and several other servers that you could log in to.

Use the Sign Out option in Messages > Preferences > Accounts > iMessages account.

HI LKuhlmann25,

I understand that your Messages are being forward from your iPhone to your MacBook Pro. I know it's important to have control over your messages, so I'm happy to help.

Are you seeing normal iMessages, or SMS messages as well? If you wish to turn off iMessage on your MacBook Pro entirely, check out the advice provided in this article:

To disable Text Message Forwarding, on your iPhone open Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding , and disable any devices you wish. You can read more about this feature here:
