macbook pro & sony projector problem

my macbook pro mid 2010 is not connecting to a sony 3lcd projector

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), iCal 8

If the projector does not show under Display Preferences then no mirroring option will show since there is nothing to mirror to.


Try the following but it could be a bad mini displayport>VGA adapter. I have had a few of those go bad or not even work initially.


- Try resetting the SMC and NVRAM/PRAM

What output of the Mac are you using?

What input on the projector are yo using?

Does the projector show in Display Preferences?

Does the cable and projector work on another computer?

Does the Mac's output work on another display device?

thunderbolt aperture

no

Does the cable and projector work on another computer?

I don't know

Does the Mac's output work on another display device?

yes on my tv with hdmi


whats weird is that there appears to be no mirroring in system preferences
