scanning issues HP 7612 Officejet printer el capitan

Hi all!

I just updated my El Capitan via the App Store, and reinstalled my HP 7612 Officejet printer (by clicking the minus icon, then the plus icon, in the sysytem prefs). Now the printer works great! But there in no scanning capability! Not from the printer's own panel, or from the scanning icon i kept in my doc from when it used to work.

Can anyone tell me how to properly install the scanning feature i need?

Much appreciated!

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Print and Scan are supported on the 7610 series according to this link Printer and scanner software for macOS Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, and Mavericks - Apple Support Check to make sure that you have the latest version from Apple.

Here is the link to HP's software that you can download http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-7610-wide-format-e- all-in-one-series/5153788/model/6879040

Have you triedscanning using Apples Image Capture? It's free and in your Utilities folder.

You copan also take a look at VueScan https://www.hamrick.com/ It's a commercial scanning product that supports almost every scanner and you can try before you buy.

Thanks for your reply, Mike!

(Actually, Image Capture is in my Applications folder.)—But I tried it and it says there is “no scanner or camera connected!).

I had also tried the HP software download, but it printed out very poor quality, fuzzy images!

I spent hours trying to get VueScan to work, but sadly, it also won’t recognize my scanner.

Will there perhaps be another El Capitan update that fixes this issue? (I do not wish to update yet to Sierra
