How can I download update for HP Printer

I have a MacBook Air 13" early 2014. Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1

Recently I have not been able to scan from my HP Photosmart 5520 series printer (CD2118). I have been informed that there has been an update that I need to do with HP. I don't know how to find the correct one? Can someone help me? Thanks

This page seems to include the most recent update for your model of printer.

Hope this helps.

Hi ,

I have the same issue after updating to Sierra in that my HP Photosmart C 6280 no longer is scan capable.

It prints Ok but the scanner is not selectable.

I downloaded HP Easyscan and it still does not work, cannot see scanner.

I checked the HP site for a printer driver update but there is none listed for Mac OS Sierra.

10.11 is the latest software available ?

It all worked perfectly before and I have no idea how to restore things.

Cheers.

See my reply here Re: Can not find / install driver for hp Laser Jet M1319f MFP to a very similar question.

The Apple document here Printer and scanner software for macOS Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, and Mavericks - Apple Support says your printer should work for both printing and scanning although as I pointed out this document is not 100% accurate.

I would repeat again my advice not to install the genuine HP drivers and software which are not Sierra compatible and in general I feel not as good as Apple's own version. Instead uninstall the HP software if possible and install Apple's own HP drivers from here HP Printer Drivers v5.0 for OS X

Hi John,

Thanks for the suggestions & link.

My HP driver is 5.0.5 at the moment and this does not scan.

I will try the link suggested but suspect the driver for the C 6280 is likely this version in any case.

It's a real pain when little things like this disrupt the update.

The Scanner icon no longer show on the printer popup menu.

I have downloaded and installed the suggested link and it is still 5.0.5 and no change.

What next ? !!!

Installing a new or different driver does not change the driver of already existing printer queues. You need to delete and re-add the printer after installing the new driver.

Note: I could not find a C 6280 listed at all in Apple's list.

(Technically your posting your own problem in someone else's thread is called 'thread jacking' and you should start your own so that the issues do not get confused.)
