Where can I delete GarageBand files?

I have a major problem with my Macbook pro, It is very limited to the amount of space it has. And it also has Bootcamp windows on it just for one program I use that isn't on Mac OSX.

Anyway I noticed GarageBand is taking a majority of my space and I cannot find these anywhere. I have searched keywords such as 'GarageBand' 'instruments' 'lessons' nothing important can be found.

I Found this on a apple support forum and none of these folders exist.

  • Macintosh HD/Applications/GarageBand.app (1.16GB)
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand (995MB)
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Logic (880MB)
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops (up to 10GB)*

If anything helps I used to have logic pro X, I am not sure if there are files that garageband uses in conjunction with that program.

I have removed the apple audio loop sounds and other sounds. But now other than this page that shows I have 14.24GB of space that I could potentially delete. They are absolutely nowhere to be found.

Any help will be appreciated.

The "GarageBand" item in the Storage panel is combining items from LogicPro X, MainStage, and GarageBand.

The GarageBand Instruments and Lessons mentioned in the panel in your screenshot are installed in the folder:

/Library/Application Support/GarageBand

Try to open this folder directly from the "Finder > Go > Goto Folder" menu and paste

"/Library/Application Support/GarageBand" into the text field. Does this folder really not exist?

You may also have some GarageBand items installed in the corresponding location in your user Library.

Use the Finder > Go menu to open the folders "~/Library/Application Support/GarageBand" and "~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/"

Also check the folder ~/Music/GarageBand/ in your home folder for installed GarageBand items.

Thank you, the first link "/Library/Application Support/GarageBand" worked which is strange because I typed in on search for Garageband and nothing would show up. Got rid of 3.45GB which is great.User uploaded file

Then a logic folder appeared in the same directory as "Library" which had about 9GB of data left.

Now Garageband no longer appears in my system information now I deleted both folders. which is great! Thank you!
