How do I Mark Junk Mail As Read By Default?

I have 5 mail accounts, Apple, 2 Gmail, 1 Sky (Yahoo I think) & 1 Other all IMAP and being viewed on iPhone, iPad and Mac using Apple mail.

I know it might sound trivial but every time I get Junk Mail it goes to the Junk folder as it should but the folder shows the unread count. How do I make these read by default. I've tried changing the rules in Preferences but nothing I do helps. I've set up separate rules to identify Junk mail and mark as read but again nothing helps me.

I've come to the conclusion that the mail servers are identifying the mail as junk and putting it in the junk folders for each account. This is, of course, brilliant but Apple mail doesn't apply any rules to them. From what I can see it only applies rules to messages that land in the Inbox!

Any ideas? I've had an Apple script as a rule that marks all messages as read in the Junk mail folder but I can only trigger it when another message lands in the Inbox.
