Apple TV optical out volume too loud!

Hi ,

i have an Apple TV 3nd Gen and an Airport express base station 1st Gen

I plug the Apple TV optical out to a dac in order to play my music from Spotify but i cannot make it to play in low volumes from my Ipad Air . The first dot of the volume on Ipad Air reach about 70 db to my speakers sound level when to my Airport express base station needs 4 to 5 dots to reach the same sound level.

I cannot control the volume through my passive speakers. Is there any solution for this?

You possibly need to change the DAC, it's seemingly amplifying the signal and not just converting it.

Hi , my dac is not amplify my airport express optical out but only Apple's tv optical out . If it was dac's proccess, it would amplify both devices .

OK, it's up to you what you want to accept of course, but the optical out from an Apple TV is a line output which means it's fixed and the same for everyone. One or two say it's a little quieter than the fixed outputs from their other equipment, so if it's too loud for you it seems fairly obvious it's your other equipment that is causing it. Either way you can't adjust the output from the Apple TV.
