keeping original photos on iphone

I accidentally had the setting to optimize photos on my iphone.

i want to do a hard download from my iphone to my computer but want to download the originals.

Now that i turn the setting back to keep originals, how can I ensure all the originals sizes are downloaded before i back it up?

when i go to pictures in my album - i see the little clock in the corner downloading the original when i go to view it. this tells me the all the originals are not downloaded. (this is in my album - not collections)

also - do images in messages not sync? i noticed when i delete images from one persons past messages it does not delete them from other devices.

thanks

It's much easier to do a hard copy backup right from my phone to my computer. I do not want to do this from icloud as it not the same.

Not true.

if i download the photos will they be the optimized photos?

No. iCloud always has the original files. Optimize is only for local device copies.

is there a way to force the phone to download all of the originals to the phone before i do a hard backup?

Enabling "Download and Keep Originals" does this. Assuming you have the local storage space on your device.

I am not sure what you consider to be a hard backup, but again, if you have the library enabled, you will not get your photos in either an iTunes or iCloud backup.
