Hello, and welcome to Apple Support Discussions!

There is a question or two that need to be addressed in order to assist

you in diagnostic reasoning; first one involves the hardware because

the section you'd posted in is Desktop 'Mac Pro' (tower) so if your unit

is a Portable 'MacBook' - there is further information lacking you could

provide in which build model, year of series, display & CPU specs; so

that any technical information may match the hardware of your Mac.

Also, what is the operating system running in the Mac? That would be

either an 'OS X' or more recently, with Sierra, a 'macOS' number...

As each of these items and troubleshooting can be different depending

on what details pertain to your configuration, without them its guesswork.

And if you have a 'Mac Pro' Tower desktop, then the Hosts won't have to

relocate this thread to a portable section. Depending on what 'MacBook'

build you have (old vintage 2006-2010 MacBook 13-inch; newer MacBook

12-inch Retina 2015+, MacBook Pro 13-15-17 inch, MacBook Air, or etc)

the section you post in helps any followers looking for pre-existing replies

to similar questions find to locate like-topic threads.

• Mac Serial Number info - Lookup your Serial Number (or model) - don't post

So you may have to consider troubleshooting; if the unit is an old portable

perhaps the hard drive is failing. That could relate to missing or corrupted

system software. You could start in Safe mode to see if that helps...

•Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support

IF you have a newer Mac with macOS Recovery (OS X Recovery) start the

mac in that to see if you can repair the hard drive, or perhaps re-install OS.

•About macOS Recovery - Apple Support

{Or if older, and included install-restore system software on original DVD

media, the disc1 could be used as startup to test the system or reinstall.}

Generally I report out-of-place posts before attempting to reply to them

because of technical issues created by this discussion forum software.

Please identify your exact build model & year of product plus operating system.

Only two models shown here are NOT named MacBook; they're old PPC hardware

Notebooks

In any event...

Good luck & happy trails! 🙂
