Bluetooth keyboard types wrong characters

I have an iPad mini 3 running 10.1.1. I bought a cheap Zotech keyboard in February and it worked well. I have a different brand small bluetooth keyboard at my office. One day neither of them would type the correct characters anymore! I really need this functionality. I have turned power and Bluetooth off and on, all the simple fixes, I have looked for an app, I have written to the company, who do not even list the keyboard on their website and am waiting to see if I get an answer. I have tried seeing the iPad to different physical keyboard settings and nothing has worked. Can anyone help??

Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for reading. When I type letters, they are correct upper and lower case, however characters are another matter. Colon and semi-colon are correct, apostrophe and quote mark do nothing. Next to the M, I can type a comma, but the less-than does nothing, period and greater-than work, backslash and question mark work.

Actually, this is the best it has worked in a long time. I have messed with the hardware keyboard setting a lot. Right now they are all set to Automatic. It is really random what works and what doesn't. For example all the shift options for the numbers work except the ampersand.

I do have a Spanish keyboard listed. I can remove that and just put it back when needed. Thanks for the selection. Frankly, if it had been working as well as it is now, I might not have posted at all. Before I messed with the settings, all of the characters above the numbers were wrong, and I could not even type a dash or question mark! Thanks! I'll let you know if that works.
