PC File Explorer doesn't show iPhone

I have an iPhone 6 and I want to copy pics from it to my pc. Sometimes iPhone displays and I can copy and paste from the phone picture folders. Other days, no matter how many times I try, unplugging and re-plugging in the iPhone to my pc, iPhone does not appear in File Explorer on my pc.

The iPhone is Version 10.1 . My pc runs Windows 10, running MS Office Professional Plus 2013

Help me Apple people. If it sometimes works, why not every time?

Hello kered33,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding when trying to import photos from your iPhone, it intermittently shows up on your PC. I know importing and saving valuable photos is very important. I'm happy to help get this resolved with you.

You've done a great job trying to fix this so far! Please try the additional steps below:

Check for updates

  1. Check for updates to your photo-management software and iTunes.
  2. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  3. Update your Mac or PC. In Windows, use the Windows Update application.

Try to import the photos again

First, try the steps to import the photos to your computer again. Then try these steps:

  1. Create a new photo to import. You can save a screenshot on your iOS device by pressing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
  2. Connect your iOS device to your computer.
  3. Try to import your photos again using your photo-management software. You can also try these steps on your PC:
    • Mac: Open Image Capture in the Applications folder.
    • Windows 8: Move the cursor to the upper-right corner, click the magnifying glass, enter Computer, and press Return. Right-click your device under Portable Devices (if present) and choose Import Photos.
    • Windows 7: Choose Start > Computer. Under Portable Devices, right-click the device and choose Import Photos.
  4. If your computer doesn't see your device, make sure your device trusts the computer.
If you can't import photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer

If the issue persists, try the remaining steps in the link above.

Have a fantastic day!
