iPhone chargers stop working one by one

I have had my original Apple lightning cable that I got with my iPhone 6 for a couple years now; it stopped working about a month ago completely (does not charge any phone using any outlet in the house). My dad purchased me a non apple lightning cable from CVS a few weeks ago to replace it, but this too has stopped working completely as of today. Last night I could hear the charging chime going off here and there, as if it was perpetually losing and regaining connection to the power source, until it finally just stopped connecting altogether. I should note that I have used the same charging "brick" - the part you plug your USB cable into, and that you then plug into the outlet - for both cables. In addition, both have "lived" plugged into a power strip with several outlets, and the whole thing plugs into the wall. I also have a pencil sharpener and an apple computer charger plugged into this strip, but both are working just fine. I don't want to just keep wasting my money on chargers that might just die after a couple weeks. Any ideas of what might be causing the problem and how I can fix/work around it? Suggestions on how to proceed?

The part you plug into the wall is not a charger, and actually neither is the cable. The charging circuit is in the phone. However, the cable and the plug are covered under the same warranty as the iPhone they were supplied with. As far as the cable your father purchased, was that marked with the MFiP certification? If not, that could lead to issues.

Have you checked the charge port of the phone and make sure there is no debris in the charging port? That could cause the cable to not make direct contact and could cause the noise issues you described. Use a magnifying glass and wooden toothpick or some other non-metal object to remove anything there to make sure the cables are making connection. If not, you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store to have the system looked at by Apple. They can explain your options.
