I'm having trouble adding m4a files downloaded to my computer to iTunes. I've done this so easily in the past, but when I go to "add to library" and click on the files, iTunes blinks, but the files do not appear. Anyone have advice?

Is it possible that the files are corrupt.. What is the source of those files? Can you play the tracks in QuickTime ?

The files play perfectly in QT. I purchased these files from nugs.net.
Have you restarted iTunes and/or your computer?
could be the files have some meta tag problems
foobar can usually clean up audio files fairly well
Nugs started selling Apple Lossless files recently. They are exactly intended for iTunes users, since everybody takes their lossless music in FLAC. If they are not working in iTunes, contact customer service for Nugs:
foobar can convert FLAC to ALAC and many other formats, it has earned it keep that way
I like that it can even fix replay gain
Foobar appears to be only for Windows. This is the iTunes for Mac forum and elainefromdobbs profile indicates a Mac is being used.
