MacBook Pro touch bar emoji not working

When I try to search emojis on the touch bar when sending a message it will not put it onto the message anymore. It worked for the first couple days then all of a sudden stopped, why is it?

I had the same issue at first too. If you have the WebRoot program active, it is the problem. Click the WebRoot icon in the top right hand corner of your screen and then click "Pause Secure Keyboard Entry" and your emojis should work again. I hope this helps!

I've had the same problem since I got my 13" Macbook Pro except it hasn't been working at all. Let me contribute more information. If while writing the predictive text shows an emoji which you press it will appear in the message. However they will not apear if you try to input them through the emoji menu. One more thing. If while on the emoji menu you press and hold an emoji it will appear in a dialog bubble but dissappear as soon as you release it.

I've called Apple support but they didn't have information about this. They suggested a complete reboot but I can't do it since I'm traveling and don't have access to my Time Capsule.

Help Please.

Just for further context, my problem was not resolved. Someone from Apple contacted me to troubleshoot my particular Touch Bar problem which I believe has to do with a keyboard re map I must have. It turns out Apple Spanish keyboard does not recognize the decimal point in a number pad keyboard. Being Spanish from Spain it separates decimal points with a comma. This is a huge problem for anyone in Latin America who needs a number pad for intensive number inputs. The only way to solve this is re mapping just the decimal point key from a comma to a period. This interferes with the proper functioning of the Touch Bar. Apple came up with a Sierra software update today but my problem persists. I guess I can live without emojis (if no further problems arise) but not without my decimal point.

I hope this helps.

happy new year!

i had the same problem in imessage. every time i wanted to get emoji and pressed the smily, the bar turned black. what i did is try to set the decimal separator to . to have emoji work as described by our spanish friend. but it didn't work for me. so i reverted to german decimal separator, which is a ,

closing the imessage app did the trick. before that i tried with the textedit app and emoji were working too.

all in all, not clear what the problem is and what the solution to the problem really is.

<- just added the emoji through the touch bar.

I tried finding WebRoot in my computer but don't have it. I also tried closing the iMessage app (which I really need open as I use it a lot) and nothing for me.

I hope this helps.

I have had my Mac Book Pro for 4 days now and I've had the emoji problem not once (on the second day I might add) but three times. This is totally unacceptable to me. I paid over $3000 for a customized machine and this is what I get? If they can't fix this issue which I've noticed by looking at these forums that people have complained about it since early 2016, what else lies ahead? When I select the Emoji icon on the touch bar, the bar goes black and I can't get it to light up again unless I choose a different application or restart. I am so disappointed in Apple.
