The Phone Number Showing Up in iMeessages is not my actual phone number

Hi, I recently changed my phone number but iMessages can't seem to recognize it, when i check the "Send & Receive" options my old phone number shows up grayed and with a little circle spinning on the left side of it

I've already checked under Settings > Phone > My Phone Number and the number showing up there is my actual phone number

I've also tried turning off both iMessages and FaceTime, waited for a couple minutes and restarting my iPhone, turning back on both iMeesages and Facetime, both work but still, my old phone number is still showing up grayed out

Please Help

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 10.1.1

Hello melchorfrompuebla,

I understand you are unable to register your new phone number to iMessage. You will need to sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on all devices that use your Apple ID and then sign back in on these devices. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

If your phone number is unchecked and you can't select it, or you have some other issue, follow these steps:

  1. On your Mac:
    • In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences, then click Accounts and select your iMessage account. Click Sign Out.
    • In FaceTime, choose FaceTime > Preferences, then click Sign Out.
  2. On your iPhone, iPad, and iPod:
    • Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    • Go to Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
  3. On your iPhone:
    • Go back to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is turned on.
    • Tap Send & Receive, then choose “Use your Apple ID for iMessage” and sign in with your Apple ID.
  4. Using the same Apple ID, sign back in to Messages and FaceTime on your other devices.

If you still need help, change your Apple ID password and repeat the setup steps. If that doesn't work, contact Apple Support.

Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime
