Epson Event Manager does not work in Sierra

I have recently bought an Epson Expression Photo XP-960. It is set up via WIFI so that I can scan and copy from my Mac. It also copies normally from its control panel. However I can't scan using the control panel. This should work via Epson's Event Manager software but it doesn't. When Event Manager is opened, it goes into a busy and unresponsive state. I have to force quit it to get control back again. I have removed and deleted it several times but it still acts as described. I have run Disc First Aid and removed my other printer and scanner (an HP unit). Still no success.

Any ideas

Regards

from Epson via Apple

You need to go directly to Epson's website for drivers too. Apple does not supply all of Epson's drivers. As Baby Boomer suggested, use the Epson updater application too. I also have an Epson and covered all my bases. Last but not least, you must also reset your printer system - macOS Sierra: Reset the printing system

If your Event Manager still does not work, you need to read the user manual that came with the printer and call Epson tech support especially if your printer is still under warranty. If out of warranty, read Epson's knowledge base articles as well as their other support documents or post in their forum area.

I have now downloaded all the current drivers from Epson using their updater application. I have reset the printer system as suggested. I have already been in touch with Epson support. They weren't much help. They said it was my iMac and therefore couldn't offer a comment. The printer is only 2 weeks old. I have just successfully downloaded Event Manager and tried again without luck, It opens; does not show any button icons and when any button is clicked (including the close button) it goes into 'busy' mode and and can only be closed by using Apple's force quit via another application. All other Printer functions work from my iMac. The printer has also passed its own connection test from the control panel. Any more suggestions. At the moment I have again removed Event Manager.

You are still under warranty. Either get a refund or make an exchange for another model. I did some research on your model - Epson Expression Photo XP-960 system requirements per Epson website... https://epson.com/For-Home/Printers/Photo/Epson-Expression-Photo-XP-960-Small-in -One-All-in-One-Printer/p/C11CE82201

Mac OS® X 10.5.8 – 10.10.x8

8 Some applications and/or functions may not be supported under Mac OS X.

10.10 is Yosemite. You are using Sierra. Your model is not compatible with Sierra.

I find that strange as you have a high end model. Mine is low end - XP 400 and works perfectly with Sierra. Never any issues. *knock on plastic*
