Need help with Pages: 11" x 17" landscape, two 8 1/2" x 11" pages per sheet

I'm using Pages. I'd like to create a "booklet" using 11" x 17" paper in landscape mode (printing on both sides) which I will fold in half so that I end up with four 8-1/2" x 11" pages in portrait mode. Pages 1 and 4 on one side of the 11" x 17" landscape paper and pages 2 and 3 on the other side of the 11" x 17" landscape paper.

Can you guide me through the initial setup/formatting/layout using Pages?

Thanks so much for any help that you can give.

Are you planning on printing this commercially or with a desktop printer?

Just sketch-up your layout on a 11x17" sheet and reproduce it on screen in Pages.

Menu > File > Page Setup… > Paper Size: US Legal > Landscape

If you are printing it on a desktop printer, test how you have to feed the paper back into your printer to get the pages the right way up on the back. Make notes on the tests prints as you go.

It's not that difficult if you are systematic. You have worked half of it out already.

Thanks,

I will initially be printing on my large home printer for the prototype, but ultimately, I want to send it to a commercial printer.

I would like to see two 8-1/2" pages side by side on the screen so that I am editing one page at a time, rather than working on one very large/wide 11 x 17 page.

I'd actually love to start out from a standard Pages "newsletter template" with all of that nice formatting for each 8-1/2" x 11" layout but change that into an 11 x 17 sheet with 2 pages per sheet so that I am seeing pages 1 and 4 next to each other and then I scroll down to see pages 2 and 3 next to each other.

Thank you sooo much for taking the time to assist me.

Version 5... Well, at least I now know that I'm looking for the functionality called "facing pages".

I remember a similar solution you gave to someone else and then you said "change the layout to 2 pages per sheet", but there were no specific step by step instructions on how to change the layout to 2 pages per sheet, so I started this question.

I guess I will use the "simple newsletter" template and create 4 separate 8.5 x 11 pages, then output to .pdf and have the printer lay it up 2 pages per sheet (duplexed) on 11 x 17 paper.

Thanks again for your help, Peter!!

Simple you put on the sheet exactly what you see in your layout. If you see 2 pages with the page unfolded, layout two pages.

A "page" in pages is just a sheet of paper. You put on that what you want.

If you use Pages 5 there is no way you can adjust for the different inner and outer margins you need, without using Layout mode and creating your own 2 page spreads.

I see you ignored my warnings about the suitability of Pages for commercial print.
