I just bouget a Series 1 Apple Watch with a wristband size 42 and found it did not fit. My question is does Apple make a larger band, 42 is to small for me. I need a band at least a size 50 to a 54 or do I need to return my new to Apple?

42 is the size of the watch not the band. Apple does sell a couple of larger sports bands and you can buy links to add to the stainless steel link band. Get a cloth tape measure and see what the size of your wrist is in millimeters.
you might also want to look through all your packaging, when i purchased my apple watch series one it came with an addition band in the packaging, but i would not have know this if i had not opened up all the packaging. Apply may have changed that at this point though. Lots of third party watch bands now, eBay, etsy, best buy, etc...i bought the attachments and made my own leather version custom fit for my wrist
