Roland TR-09 Midi Issues

Hi all,

I'm new to Logic and am having trouble with midi sync over usb with my Roland TR-09. I create a new track, select External Midi, selecting use external instrument plug-in being sure Input Device: TR-09 is present at the bottom of the window. All instruments that I've programmed with the Roland hit and play through every virtual instrument I select, except Electronic Drum Kit->Drum Machine->Any. Everything except the kick drum plays on Drum Machines.

Any idea on how to fix it?

I do have an M Audio interface on the way with standard 5 pin midi that I'm hoping will fix this issue.
