Hi MoonJ.
Thank you for that suggestion. However, it doesn’t solve the problem, well my problem anyway. I am having a problem getting my iPhone 6 to work with Ford‘s own Sync 3 in-built text messaging. It works perfectly with Apple Car Play which is an additional feature integrated into my Ford Sync 3. The problem is that when I am connected via usb and using Apple Car Play, when I select Navigation it opens up the iOS “Maps” on my phone, (as it should do because it’s in Apple CarPlay mode). But this will use up a lot of data if a do a long car journey using that. So, there are times, when I am not wanting to use Apple Car Play but wanting to use Ford’s own navigation shstem, so I then have to disconnect my phone from the usb (ie. disconnect from Apple Air Play) and use the in-built Ford Sync navigation system. During these times, I would like to be able to use the Ford Sync 3 text messaging functionality which reads your texts to you and allows you to dictate texts etc. But for some reason, when I connected my phone to the car’s Bluetooth for the first time, I got a warning message saying:
”SYNC does not have access to text messaging from (my) iPhone. Check your phone to make sure that you always grant SYNC access to your phone text messaging feature and then retry.”
However, I was carefully watching my phone and I never received any pop up on my phone asking me if I wanted to grant access, and I cannot find any such option when I have searched through various settings on the phone.
I have tried deleteing my phone and tried again with connecting my iPhone to the car’s bluetooth, and each time I get the same message But with no pop up about it.
How do I grant access?
