Bootcamp Partition Missing after Resize

Hi

I was trying to follow online tutorials for non-destructively resizing my Win7 bootcamp from running out of space.

After using disk utility to shrink down the MacOS, however, the bootcamp partition is still there in disk utility and Finder, but when I restarted, pressing ALT into the booting selection, the windows system was missing and has been that way ever since..

From the disk utility, it looks like this↓

Could anybody help me out of this without deleting the windows?

System is OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

Please install GPT Fdisk - https://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/ .

Your Start and Size values come from the MBR, not the current GPT values. They should be 763398144 and +213706752 respectively.

See the first set of Gdisk steps as an example - Re: El Capitan has deleted my bootcamp windows partition .

If you notice, you have two entries at index 4 in your GPT. We need to remove both and correct the GPT to match the MBR start/size values. Please disable SIP using Local Recovery and the csrutil disable command from Utilities -> Terminal.

Once it is disabled and you are booted normally (do not type such text), then run

sudo gdisk /dev/disk0

m (Main menu)

p (Print)

d (Delete)

4 (GPT4)

n (New)

4 (GPT4)

(Enter the start value from the MBR)

(Enter the size value from the MBR preceded by the '+' sign)

p (Print)

w (Write)

y (Confirm write)

Reboot and test.

Hi, thanks for the prompt aid, there's quite a lot of professional knowledge to take in here,

I checked the link, so in general, I would need a win7 installation DVD/flash drive for the startup repair?

Would I need to be first able to boot into win7 again to resize the GPT partition (the win7 is still operable from the Parallels Desktop), or is should this be done with Disk utility?

RESIZE is currently FAT32 format, what would a free space look like?

Thank you very much for the professional advice, I've made substantial progress after these steps, now the win7 is again bootable after startup repair, and the system size is expanded smoothly.

Another small issue remains however, that I've been unable to setup a virtual machine in Parallels Desktop via Import from Bootcamp option, and the win7 system is not visible in Mac-Preferences-Startup disk option.

Thanks a lot, that was a lot of tricky command line operations, but looks like things are working in good order. +213706752 is simply the sum of the two previous partition 4 size, I figure 🙂

The partition is back in disk utility, preference - startup disk, accessible in MacOS and bootable.

Is there anything else to fix?

I still don't get a "import from bootcamp" option in Parallels Desktop, but anyway that's more of a product specific question, guess I'll just search for solutions from their website.

*Update: the option is back after running command as posted here

ls /Volumes df -h diskutil list

Thanks a lot
