Unidentified arrow in menu bar (10.12.1)

An unidentified straight up arrow icon has appeared on my menu bar that is different from the location arrow icon. I can drag it to another location on the menu bar but cannot drag it off. How can I identify this and determine if it is bad or good? The screen shot below shows it at the extreme left. Many thanks for any help that can be offered.

Had the same question. My conclusion is that this was actually a Logitech add-on, installed when installing my keyboard. If you have the "Logitech Options" app installed, try unchecking "Show Caps Lock status in menu bar".

Appears to me to be CapSee.

I used it for awhile, and found it to be more annoying than useful.

Thank you for that. It is annoying as you say but the good news is that it does not seem to be dangerous. When I press the Caps Lock key, it goes away but comes back any time I press the Caps key again. Do you know how to uninstall this little program? It is not in my applications folder and I certainly did not install it.

Thanks for the links to uninstalling capsee. I have tried the various methods - using launchpad, activity monitor, finder but cannot locate CapSee utility. Seems to be truly buried somewhere.

In my case CapSee is located in my Applications Folder.

In the first article linked by BDAqua, use the procedure described in the "Mac Tips & Tricks: How to Manage Startup Items?" paragraph.

As suggested, I have gone into the Login page of Accounts in System Preference. Again, there is no CapSee there. Thank you for your patience with this. I have written to the company that produced CapSee asking for instructions to remove, noting that the utility cannot be found in my Applications folder. Will let you know if there are developments. Such a lot of bother for a nagging piece of software!
