Sound is too loud during calling

When I am calling too someone sound is too loud and comes out of phone. When somebody is with me he comfortably hears what conversation is going on. So please help out in this regard.

Use the volume buttons on the side of the phone to turn it down...

I'm a bit confused... It seems the logical thing to do if it's too loud would be to turn down the volume...

In some of the other mobiles if volume is full but sound is not comes out of the phone just like happen in iPhone 7 plus
