Can't save Word doc where I want to

When "Saving As" a doc in Word for Mac 2011, I have only a limited number of choices for the folders to save it to: Favorites and Recent Places. Why can't I access all folders and sub-folders?

I think I've figured this out. No it's not an iCloud drive issue. I was clicking on the arrow to the right of the "Where" box and only getting a limited selection of where to save to, vs. clicking on the arrow to the right of the "Save As" box, so that the arrow switches from pointing down to pointing up, and revealing all folders.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, when I click on File>Save As from the menu bar in Word, I can see the arrow to the right of the "Save As" text box. When I click on it, it does display several locations available for saving a document, but frequently it does not include the sub-folder I'm looking for. For example I can save something to my "Documents" folder but I can't save it to my "Household" subfolder in Documents. At one time, perhaps before an OS upgrade, I was able to click on "Documents" and see all sub-folders. But not any more. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sam

Wow! I really appreciate you noted the answer here! I have been resigned to living with this issue for so long. I finally dedicated some time to digging for an answer. Thank you. I'm slightly embarrassed for not figuring this out before. I see now that the arrow (basically a drop down menu symbol) to the right of save as edit field expands or reduces to whole save screen (functioning to minimize or maximize view options - more like disclosure widget maybe). Since I was always looking at the minimized options, I never clicked "save as" to choose the location. IMHO very confusing since there is a drop drop symbol seemingly attached to save as. I never thought I wanted to save a new document by the same name as a document that was already on my computer. I thought this was just a MS Word not playing well with Mac. I'm so happy about this!
