iPad screen / glass / top part is coming off / loose on one side

i have never dropped my iPad mini 4 but recently I notice the screen / glass / top part of the ipad is coming off / loose on the left side. i do not know how this happened and when I took it to the store they said it can't be repaired?? but I've seen people repairing smashed glasses / screens?? my ipad is still quite new as I just bought it last November. I'm really dissapointed because they said it can't be repaired and that I have to buy a new one. I didn't spend so much money to use this just for 1 year plus I have never dropped it so its not my fault the glass came off. please give me any ideas / suggestions on what can I do. thank you 🙂

Tall to a tech or a supervisor, dont' mess with the salesperson. You want the person with the expertise or abiity to help you.

The replacement they are talking about is an out of warranty replacement and the 90 day warranty is standard. Even if they fix yours (which is not their way) you would not get another year's warranty out of it.

In a perfect world of hindsight if you had purchased Apple Care Plus then you'd be looking at a $49 fee for replacing your device. But since the year is up the refurbished replacement is common practice.

stuff on youtube....well its stuff on youtube. It can be about as accurate and trustworthy as a Facebook news story.

What's on your iPad isn't a simple screen, there are sensors and the such and it's actually very complicated. and if your device has touch ID there is another layer of complication.

Make an appointment, talk to a supervisor and see what htey can do and then make the best decision you can.

Apple does not repair the glass screen on the iPad. They replace the devices if the screen is cracked, with an out of warranty replacement. It is hard to tell what Apple may do with your device, but only they can tell you. None of us here, who are fellow users, could make that call. Either way, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store and they will provide you with your options after the device has been examined.

the technician wasn't there when I went. but the salesman told me that nothing can be done because it's like the entire top part of the iPad is coming off on the left side. he said I can echange it and get myself a new one but that only comes with a 3 month warranty and the price is just a few bucks lesser than a brand new one that comes with a 1 year warranty. I'm really disappointed and heartbroken because i took care of my iPad really well and have never dropped it or anything yet at the end this happened and its relative still new Do you think the iPad case could have contributed to this problem? I was just thinking about it because once a month or so I will remove the iPad gently from its case to wipe the back part. i don't think that's the cause but I can't think of any other reason😢😟

but I saw on YouTube and Google that the screen is replaceable although I don't know how far it's true. there are also some bubble like effect when I touch the left side of the screen where the part is coming off. it's like the glue between the screen and body of the iPad is no longer working. do you think the iPad case could have contributed to this problem? I was just thinking about it because every one month or so I will remove the iPad gently from its case to wipe the back part. i don't really think that could have lead to this problem but I can't think of any other reason the guy at Apple Store told me that I can echange it and get myself a new one but that only comes with a 3 month warranty but the price is just a few bucks lesser than a brand new one that comes with a 1 year warranty. I'm really disappointed and heartbroken because i took care of my iPad really well and have never dropped it or anything yet at the end this happened and its still new😢😟

Don't believe everything you see on the internet. If you saw a Genius at the Apple Store, and they offered you an out of warranty replacement, then that is what it is. This is a user to user support forum, no one works for Apple and we have no influence on their decisions. If the iPad is out of warranty, there is not a lot you can do. The out of warranty replacement is cheaper than a new one, but it is your decision on whether or not to purchase it or a new one. Things can happen to devices. As to whether or not it had anything to do with the case, that is hard to say. You can plead your case with Apple if you believe it to be something more.
