Windows PC not permitted to access iPhone

I have an iPhone 6S running iOS version 10.1.1. Even though I choose to trust the device, the pc shows me that 'You do not have permission to access this device'. Tried connecting the phone to a Windows 7 PC which does not have iTunes pre-installed.

Hello musaeite,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that even though you choose 'Trust This Computer' you still receive a message saying, 'You do not have permission to access this device.' I know how important it is for your computer to recognize your iPhone. I recommend using the steps from the following article to help resolve this issue:

About the ‘Trust This Computer‘ alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Get help

If you tap Trust or Don't Trust but iOS doesn't accept your answer, or if the Trust alert won't appear, follow these steps. Try again after each:

  1. On your computer, especially with Windows 10, check that you have the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect your iOS device.
  3. Restart your iOS device and your computer.
  4. Reset your Trust settings.
  5. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.*

* This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

Best Regards.

Hi musaeite,

Updating the iPhone drivers may help. While this article is mainly used for iTunes not recognizing your iPhone, the same steps apply for your Windows PC.

If iTunes doesn‘t recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

If you use a Windows PC

Open Device Manager:
Windows 7: Click User uploaded file > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Device Manager. If asked, enter your password. In the list under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, find the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.

Then continue to use the steps from the article linked above depending on what you see in the Device Manager.

Cheers.
