Fixing distorted iphone 6 photos after import to Macbook Pro?

I just imported 3000+ photos from my iphone 6 to Photo on Mac. I found out that more than half of them are distorted, and appear a grey band across. Because I chose "delete the imported photos on iphone" option, now the originals are gone and I'm left with images like this one below. Also, I didn't back up the photos on icloud.

It's a year long memory, and these photos include my graduation, so if anyone could provide solutions, either fixing broken files or pull up images back onto iphone, I would be most grateful.

Same has happened to me. I downloaded a large batch of photos to my iMac from my iPhone 6 spanning many months. It didn't happen to all of the photos -- but a large number is affected. (Within photos from the same event, for instance, many are affected and many are not.) And I also chose the "delete the imported photos" option.

The only way I found to fix this at this point is go through each picture individually and edit them. I simply select the auto color correct and save the picture. It fixes the distortion and if you want to undo the edit all you have to do is simply edit and revert to original. After doing that
