iTunes can play WMV files as standard on both Mac and Windows. If it had been a WMA file then only iTunes for Windows can handle that.

It should be noted that while it is possible to import a WMV file in to iTunes and then play it, and also to label it in terms of track name, artist etc., it does not handle adding and storing this meta data information as well as either Apple Lossless or AIFF format as far as iTunes is concerned. It might therefore be worth considering using iTunes to convert it to Apple Lossless format which is exactly the same audio quality but takes about half as much space and does have better support for storing meta-tag information like album name, artist, etc.

Note: Even Windows Media Player in Windows 10 fully supports Apple Lossless format.

You can even later if you chose convert it back from Apple Lossless to WMV again with zero loss of quality. (That is the whole point of it being lossless.)
