MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) - Beeping Noise (Not at startup)

I have this MBP that according to the user starts beeping for no apparent reason. She made a video and sent it to me. I have the MBP with me now and have been using it for hours and haven't encountered any issues. I also ran some diagnostic test and the fans, ram, hdd seem to be fine. The only thing I see thats "bad" is the battery that its displaying that it needs servicing, but I doubt that can cause this "non-stop beep". According to her it seems to be coming from the right speaker and there isn't a disc on the optical drive.

I haven ecountered issues with beep before in Macs, but its usually at startup (RAM). This is a really weird sound, almost mechanical. Going by the video it almost sound like a dot matrix printer when its printing. 🙂

Any ideas?

those do not sound like system beeps, they sound like mechanical ones. It could be the drive or DVD is going.

reset the SMC

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

then boot into safe mode

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support

if it is the drive you should back up now if you have not already.

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

If the problem persists you should take the device to an apple authorized repair center for an estimate on cost to fix it.
