yes you can, but the simplest replacement is to mount a 2.5-in SSD onto Mac Pro internal sled, or use an adapter to place it there.
MacSales.com sells a replacement sled that fits 2009 through 2012 Mac Pro silver towers directly, as well as several different sizes of SSD.
