Question

Anybody using FCP on a iMac 24"?

As Subject,

thinking about getting a iMac 24" for use at home is this a good combination with FCP? Or should I just invest in another G5?

G5 Dual 1.8 . G4 Powerbook 17, Mac OS X (10.3.9)

an imac will work great, i would get an external HD (firewire) at least a 250GB. that is so you can make it a scratch drive. you should have a good amount of ram also. you will also have more then enough screen space.

I have to disagree that an iMac will work "great."

If you are capturing via firewire, then your only option is external FW drives.

The camcorder and the FW drive shares a single firewire bus, and that can cause a bunch of issues as well.

And a new iMac will require version 5.1. Upgrades end the 20th.
