Does Thunderbolt 3 cable work with the Samsung T3 SSD?

I bought a macbook pro late 2016. I'm looking for a good portable hard drive and I am hearing a lot of good things about the Samsung T3 SSD. I know the Samsung T3 has USB-C so I can buy a USB-C to USB-C cable to make it work. But I already have a thunderbolt 3 cable, will the cable work or will I have to buy the usb-c to usb-c cable instead?

I just want to know before buying the T3.

TIA

Hey,

I used to use the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Cable (0.5 m) https://goo.gl/vT4HCE

After using it for a month or so, my Samsung T3 SSD was completely dead. My files on the SSD were gone too.

Thankfully it was still under warranty, send it over to Samsung and got a replacement.

All this while I thought it was because of the Thunderbolt 3 Cable, or maybe because the cable also supports 60W charging that could've messed up my Samsung SSD.

I'm still not sure, if only someone could help. The Belkin Thunderbolt 3 USB C Cable is of extremely high quality and the looks beautiful. Want to use it again, since there aren't any good looking USB C cables in the market.
