Does iCloud Drive support word and excell? and do the iPhone and iPad have supporting software for word and excel? it would be lovely to use iCloud for all my document storage needs.

I would like to store word and excel documents on my iCloud Drive, but am concerned that doing so would convert the files to Pages and Numbers. Since I use, and share, these documents for use on a PC the conversion to Pages and Numbers causes much difficulty. Has Apple developed software for the iPad and iPhone that allows word and excel to be supported, thus alleviating this problem? or am I stuck using Box as my cloud service?

I occasionally use iCloud Drive to store Word and Excel files from both my MacBook and from my iPhone and iPad and it works fine (although I like Microsoft OneDrive a bit better). They are not converted to Pages/Numbers format.

Microsoft has Word and Excel apps on the App Store:
