New iPhone Old iTunes...

Recently purchased a new iPhone 7 and wanting to move my playlists from my old iMac running IOS 10.8.5. My old iMac runs iTunes is 12.4.3.1and cannot be updated due to the iMac age. When i tried to move the playlists it said that the new iPhone cannot work w the old iTunes version on my old iMac. Besides buying a new computer, is there a work around? and YES, the old phone is long gone.

Hi

You will need to use iCloud when you charge an iPhone / iPad it automatically backs

Up to iCloud over your WiFi .

We have 7 apple devices haven't used PC for them for over 2 years

All done over WiFi / iCloud .

Turn on home share in music & photos on all your apple devices including your PC .

Cheers

If your iMac is running 10.8 Mountain Lion, then it can definitely be updated to at least El Capitan. Maybe not to Sierra.

You can update to El Capitan, and then update your iTunes version to 12.5. An iPhone 7 requires iTunes 12.5.1 at least to sync and backup to.

As to the Apple IDs, each person should be using their own Apple ID, but it should be the same one for all devices they own.

So for instance your wife should use her Apple ID for her iPhone and her iPad. And you use your Apple ID for say your iMac and iPhone.
