How to transfer Apple Watch data to new Apple Watch

I already know that I'm getting a new Apple Watch for Christmas. I'm looking to determine the best procedure to get my data from my old Watch to the new Watch and wipe the old Watch clean so it will be ready for a new owner.

Most of the data is stored on the iPhone. You will need to pair and unpair through the Watch app on the iPhone. Pair the new Watch first.

Hi

To switch to a new Apple Watch, follow this process:

Unpair your current Apple Watch using the Watch app on your iPhone:

Pair your new Apple Watch with your iPhone, choosing to Restore from Backup when offered the option:

  • Content and settings from your previous watch will be restored to your new watch, which will then be ready for ongoing use.
  • (Historic Activity data is stored on your iPhone, not on Apple Watch).
  • Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support
