How do I remove the Downloads Folder from my dock? Running Sierra and the Downloads folder is always on the dock next to Trash and any open applications, and cannot be removed. I do not need or want it in the dock.

Click and drag it vertically from the dock until the name changes to "Remove".

John- Thanks very much. Never would have thought I needed to use 2 fingers. All other icons can be removed with one finger hold-down. Can't figure why that one icon would be different, but thanks much.
John's method works as well. Just required more typing.
